“NIK – Newcomers in the Kitchen”, a European project aims to integrate young people with different cultural and linguistic backgrounds into the world of education and work through cooking together. At the same time, young people are to be enabled to develop economic and professional skills, with the help of which they can realise their dream of entering the catering industry themselves.
On 19.12.2019 the “Multiplier event” (according to the cooking scenario,developed within the project) took place in the rooms of the „alte mensa“ of the kiezküchen company. Students interested in a future in gastronomy, representatives of the upper school centre Brillat-Savarin, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of educational institutions were present to test the learning formats developed in the project. Afterwards, cross-cultural dishes were prepared and eaten together with the students in the teaching kitchen.
In addition, a “Taste-Station” for trying out different drinks and food was made available as a learning offer and the NIK Game developed in the project was tested for playful motivation. The afternoon ended with an intensive exchange of experiences.
